Privacy policy (POPIA)
This policy explains how FixFare handles personal information under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Responsible party
FixFare is run by EasyGov (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa (registration number 2024/365166/07). EasyGov (Pty) Ltd is the responsible party for personal information processed through FixFare. Its Information Officer is its director, Sagie Chetty. Contact: [email protected].
What we collect
FixFare has no accounts and sets no cookies. To count visits we store only totals per day, page, referring website and country. We don't store IP addresses or browser details for this. Our host, Cloudflare, processes basic technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
The quote check
- Reading happens on your device. If you upload a PDF or photo, your browser reads the text itself (using pdf.js and Tesseract, served from this site). The file is never uploaded.
- Personal details are removed on your device first. Before anything is sent, your browser removes phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses, SA ID numbers, bank account and branch details, and lines that name the customer. You see the exact text that will be sent and can edit it. Please remove anything else personal, such as names.
- What is sent and why: only that cleaned text and the job type, to our server and from there to Cloudflare Workers AI, an AI service that lists the items on the quote. The purpose is to produce your result.
- Cross-border processing: Cloudflare may process the text on servers outside South Africa. Cloudflare acts as our operator under its data processing terms.
- What we keep: nothing from your quote. We don't store the text, the file or the result, and we don't log request bodies. To enforce the free daily limit we keep a one-way scrambled code (a salted hash) of your IP address and the date, plus a count. The raw IP address isn't stored, and these counters are deleted after 3 days. We also count how many checks ran each day (numbers only).

Links to price guides and shops take you to their own websites, and their privacy policies apply there.
Your rights
You may ask what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing [email protected]. Because we don't keep quotes or results, there is usually nothing to delete. You may also complain to the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za.
Changes
If we add anything that collects more (for example a newsletter or a "get a second quote" form), we'll ask for your consent and update this policy first.
